We have completed several projects with Herriot Kitchen design: a complete kitchen and ensuite bathroom renovation in 2014, a powder room renovation in 2016 (which has won a design award), and an entertainment centre creation in 2019 (storage of analogue turntable system, vinyl LPs, guitar drawers, and guitar amplifier). John Courtney has been just fabulous through all of these projects; creative, accountable, fair, trustworthy, and honest. These traits are very important to us, as we value quality work and quality relationships. And an end result that we are proud of.

As we live in a condo, maximizing space utilization is critical. Our new condo kitchen has more cabinet and counter space then did the kitchen in our former 5 bedroom house. The cabinet and overall build quality is outstanding (ask to see the kitchen with the copper sink and copper hood), and John’s installers are the absolute best. Same to be said about all the projects.

It is worth specifically mentioning the turntable system/LPs/guitars wall installation. We looked everywhere for ideas, and basically came up empty handed until we sat down with John. We wanted plenty of LP space, places for speakers, stereo equipment, a small instrument amplifier (a 60 year old vintage piece), as well as drawers to hold several guitars. We didn’t think that John could fit in all of the above into a plan, but he did so, and it is unique, functional, and beautiful.

One last comment. Over the years we have undertaken projects where if there is a problem, the various contractors blame each other. Not so with a team of John’s recommended and on staff contractors, who work seamlessly and collaboratively to address the usual problems that always crop up. We unreservedly highly recommend Herriot Kitchen Design.

Thank you John! Now, our kitchen is truly a family gathering place thanks to the open concept design that you helped us come up with. It is a much more organized and efficient use of space. John and his team did a phenomenal job for our kitchen. I received several designs but none were as good as John’s. John understood what we needed from our kitchen before we did. Our new new kitchen suits the space and has improved the functionality of the space. Previously we only had 1 proper work space and now we have at least 3. That is quite the feat for a small space. Herriot Kitchen Design did an incredible job helping us achieve our vision of our perfect condo loft. John was extremely knowledgeable and agile in his designs and worked with us to completely re-imagine our space and add a modern flair!

This past spring, we worked with Herriot Kitchen Design to build a completely renovated modern washroom, an addition to our island that created a custom dining space, and expanding the use of our kitchen space with a nicely done enclosure of our wine fridge and addition of a chopping board above for extra prep space

But perhaps the most ingenious solution that John helped us to create solved one of the most important issues we had living in a downtown loft – storage space. John utilized the advantage of tall ceiling height to design and create beautiful custom cabinets for our clothes complete with lighting, pull out shelves for nicely storing and protecting shoes, and shelving with plenty of space for my 2+ normal closets of clothing, coats, and my husband’s suits/ties and more! He even built a little broom closet in a loft!

We have been in many lofts at the Toy Factory in Liberty Village over the years as we were looking for our perfect place. The custom cabinets and all of the work of Herriot Kitchen Design was by far the best utilization of condo space we have seen in this building. We are now working with John to build a custom media/entertainment center complete with a setup for my DJing equipment, record player, and vinyl. I would highly recommend John and Herriot Kitchen Design!

John Courtney at Herriot Kitchen Design did a fabulous job designing our kitchen, and we continue to get compliments. It is absolutely stunning. His design suggestions opened our eyes to possibilities we hadn’t thought about, and have resulted in a dream kitchen. John was always available for questions, and helped us every step of the way. We were quite nervous about going ahead with such a big project, and it is a relief to know that we made a good decision putting our trust in John. He delivered on budget and on time. Our relatively small kitchen suddenly looks spacious, much more functional, and most importantly, gorgeous.
